Hi, I’m Apolline!

I have a deep love for Friulane slippers—they’re timeless, elegant, and so versatile. My own collection has grown to over 20 pairs! Inspired by their charm, I decided to share my passion by creating a line that highlights their unique appeal.

While Friulane slippers were my starting point, I’m thrilled to expand into designing complementary pieces that pair perfectly with them.

Let’s bring a little more elegance to the everyday!

The Origins of Friulane

Let me take you on a journey into the history of Friulane, also known as Furlane. These iconic slippers hail from the Friuli region of Italy, dating back to the 19th century. However, it wasn’t until after World War II that they truly gained widespread attention. With materials scarce, Italians began crafting these shoes from leftover fabric, and soles cut from old bicycle tires.

Originally sold on Venice’s famous Rialto Bridge, Friulane slippers became especially popular with gondoliers. The rubber soles provided the perfect grip on their boats, preventing them from slipping. According to legend, these slippers were also favored by crafty Venetians, who would tiptoe across their palaces without a sound—allowing for discreet late-night escapades.

Style & Appeal

In recent years, Friulane have re-emerged as a symbol of understated elegance. Their sleek, timeless design effortlessly blends comfort and style, making them suitable for anything from a day at the beach to a sophisticated cocktail party. Available in a wide array of colors and crafted from luxurious fabrics, these velvet slippers have become a staple in the loungewear trend, captivating lovers of the "art de vivre."

Who Wears Friulane?

Friulane slippers appeal to a wide range of people, transcending generations and styles. From the elegant, mature woman who appreciates a beautiful slipper, to the busy mother hosting guests while staying chic at home, to the trendy young woman pairing them with jeans, and even the dapper man embracing a hint of dandy flair—Friulane are for anyone with an eye for timeless style.
